A closer look at the mountain that defines Yosemite National Park

HALF DOME

Half dome

Half Dome is more than Yosemite’s most recognizable landmark - it’s one of the most remarkable granite formations in the world. Standing nearly 5,000 feet above the valley floor, its distinctive shape was sculpted over millions of years by glaciers and relentless erosion, leaving behind the sheer northwest face that has captivated visitors for generations.

Almost anywhere you stand in Yosemite, Half Dome seems to draw your eye. The changing light constantly transforms its massive granite walls, from the surreal tones of infrared light to the cool tones of twilight.

These photographs are my interpretation of this incredible mountain - a timeless reminder of the immense forces that shaped the Sierra Nevada Mountains and one of the greatest natural icons of the American West.
